LG’s 32LG30 features an all black glossy exterior. An angled bezel sits just below the screen and is interrupted only by the power button, which is located at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. The screen is supported by a matching pedestal base which swivels to make it easier to angle the TV to your desired viewing angle.
• 1366 x 768 HD Resolution
• Invisible Speaker System
• 12,000:1 Contrast Ratio
With its 1366 x 768 resolution you will have no trouble viewing standard high definition images in 720p. It can’t however display 1080p images. It seems the 32 inch size of this TV has a lower resolution than the smaller sizes which won’t be a big deal unless you plan on using it as a computer monitor as well. We suspect LG determined that 32 inches was too big for a computer monitor, and that’s the reason behind the lower resolution.
The 32LG30 features a streamlined exterior. To help this, LG has concealed all speakers and buttons (except for the power button) on the face of the set. This does help to keep the attention of the viewer focused on the screen.
The 12,000:1 contrast ratio keeps the picture looking sharp. The black levels were deep and detailed while still being able to maintain fairly white whites. Of course measuring contrast ratio in a lab on a test screen is different that what one would normally see on the television. Overall, the picture quality of the set was as good, or better, than that of similar priced sets.
Expert reviewers seemed impressed by the TV’s overall picture quality. There was some time needed to fine tune the picture, as factory settings out of the box weren’t all that great. The TV didn’t have as many HDMI inputs as other sets, but for the price seemed adequate.
Users also liked the picture on the LG 32LG30. Just like the experts, the users found that some tweaking was necessary to get the “perfect” picture. The picture controls were also a nice feature as most sets in this price range don’t allow the flexibility and control to fine tune the picture.
It might not be the best TV out there, but for the price you get a decent performer and a great feature spec making this TV hard to pass up.
