Building on the platform of the LG3230 model, the LG40 adds a built-in DVD player. Perhaps the biggest difference between the two models is the prominent red trim below the screen that wraps around to the back of the 32LG40.
The controls for both the TV and the DVD player are located on the side of the unit. This helps keep the look of the TV clean and uncluttered, but also makes it harder to use the controls if you have misplaced your remote.

Eliminate the need for extra cables and remotes with the built-in DVD player. This also makes mounting the TV on a wall easier since there will be fewer cables that need to be run between the TV and other components.
The TV features 1366 x 768 resolution. This is good enough to display most HD TV broadcasts in its native resolution. It does not display 1080p resolution, although it can accept higher resolutions. The TV will simply scale down the resolution to what the TV can handle.
The 12,000:1 resolution will provide dark black colors and bright whites. Contrast ratio also helps every color to appear more vibrant and vivid.
Experts liked the LG 32LG40 for its simplicity and ease of use. The set offered extensive picture adjustments. Despite its 12,000:1 contrast ratio the TV seemed to struggle producing the deepest black levels that other sets in its class were able to achieve.
Users liked the picture quality. The DVD player was noisy and some users found it too distracting to even watch a movie. Most users were happy with their purchase.
The LG 32LG40 has plenty of features and offers decent picture quality and features for its price.
