In the 1990s Panasonic went with the idea that picture and sound are the most important things on a TV. They designed their new TVs so the focus was on the screen and worked to come up with new technologies to help improve those functions.
Panasonic’s Viera line came out in 2003 and has been renowned for its continued development of new models with leading-edge technology and unique design. Panasonic started out developing plasmas for the Viera line, going with newer and updated sound and picture quality. Eventually they brought LCD TVs into the line as well.
The 2008 line of LCD TVs come with the 1080p display resolution and a 10,000:1 contrast ration. They have yet to put out TVs with the 120hz refresh rate, but it probably won’t be long before Panasonic jumps on that bandwagon along with the other major TV manufacturers.
History and Information
Panasonic began in 1918 in Japan selling lamp sockets. After meeting with American dealers in 1961, they started producing TVs. The latest in Panasonic’s TV development came in 2006 when they decided to stop producing analog televisions and concentrated on digital TVs. Just in time for the 2009 switch to digital.
Panasonic also has some firsts up its alley, being the first post-war overseas manufacturer. They also created the first VHS that recorded for more than 2 hours – that meant you could record the entire football game. That’s honestly what they created it for. Recording the game only got better as Panasonic continued to up the features on the Viera line that make football watching all that more enjoyable: something you want to record.
Over the years, Panasonic has also won many awards for design for their cameras, washing machines, projectors and even their flashlights. Panasonic also came into the limelight by helping to sponsor the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Service
The service page on Panasonic is divided into three separate categories for consumer, business and industrial. The consumer site has areas where you can download guides, FAQs, warranty info and more. You can contact Panasonic by mail, phone or email.
Panasonic has a “Shortcut” button, but it didn’t seem to make the process any shorter for us and it actually wasn’t working when we tried it out. So it might be best to stick with the standard clicking through a lot of pages to get what you need.
On the whole, it was a little difficult for us to figure out the online support and everything seemed very general and not product specific. It may be easier to just contact Panasonic directly with your questions.
Summary
Bringing quality mid-grade TVs and other electronics to the table, Panasonic is giving everyone “ideas for life”. Their award-winning design team and well-known name give everyone a reason to continue to look for quality products bearing the Panasonic name.
