Philips Manufacturing Information

Philips

Simplicity is making products that will make life flow smoother and easier. That’s Philips goal and their latest motto “sense and simplicity” is something they’ve tried to take into every aspect of their technology.

Philips has taken an out-of-the-box approach to their latest technology, changing the way they think about and make everything from MRI machines to their LCD TVs. Philips has made a name for itself by thinking of new ways to give us the same products—only making them better.

TV Lines

Philips latest line of LCD TVs incorporates Ambilight technology. This expands the limits of your viewing by illuminating the wall behind the set to match on-screen images. That means the picture looks like it is floating in a halo of light.

The Philips 7000 series has been dubbed the ultimate dream TV. It has the 120hz and 1080p features that give you latest technology for great picture quality. It also has the Philips standard Ambilight technology lighting up the wall behind your TV to bring you and enhanced viewing experience. According to Philips, Ambilight reduces eyestrain and makes ocean or jungle scenes seem to go on far beyond the edge of the screen.

To add to the design statement with the Ambilight, Philips also boasts that it has an invisible sound system that still give great sound quality. Moving the speakers to the back and using a curved bezel to push the sound forward allows the chassis around the screen to have a smooth and even appearance. That means there is no gap in the lightshow when the entire casing lights up along with the back wall.

History

Philips, today, is one of the world’s largest electronics manufacturers. The Amsterdam-based company began in 1914 making carbon-filament lamps and now has tried their hand in many different areas including healthcare, lighting and consumer products like TVs.

In 1925 Philips became involved with the first experiments in television. They continued this trend of development and innovation until in the 1970s when their research made a breakthrough that led to the development of the compact disc. This technology also led Philips on to the development and release of one of the fasting growing home electronics products in history, the DVD.

Philips has also played a major role in HDTV by developing important components that led to high definition. Add on the fact that they have also been a key player in developing TVs with internet capabilities and we may be indebted to Philips for many, many years.

Then, to complete Philips’ resume for development and innovation in the TV technology field, they claim that they were the first to use design to differentiate their TVs from others on the mass market. In 1997 they took the “black box” approach to TVs out and brought in TVs that had nothing new about them other than an attractive design.

Services

Philips gives you a lot of help for finding model numbers and help on with problems your products may have. They don’t have a live chat, but they do have services that identify FAQs for specific products and they have the option of contacting them either by phone or email. Philips has authorized repair centers close by everywhere, so you can get service quickly.

One cool feature they do have on their customer support site is called “Talk to Philips”. It doesn’t actually talk or really move or do much else, but if you click on the box, it will bring up a program that will do the searching for info on your product for you. For example, if you have a question about your TV you just need to type in the model number and it can bring up a list of FAQs about your specific TV.

Summary

Philips has taken innovation and technology together to bring us some of the hottest features in TV technology since TVs themselves were invented. Taking their “sense and simplicity” approach to all their products, Philips will continue to work to make our lives simpler with more advanced technology.
