Samsung LN52A850

At a whopping 1.9-inches deep, this latest model from Samsung is the thinnest large-screen LCD panel yet to hit the market. The remote to the Samsung LN52A850 is not very wide, and the TV is even thinner. Samsung continues its trend to take the upper-tier of TVs even higher … or thinner if you will.

With features including the 120Hz refresh rate and 1920x1080 resolution, those action packed scenes in movies like The Dark Knight take on a whole new level of intensity. Throw in some of the best black levels on the market and the detail and depth of the dark scenes give a whole new meaning to The Dark Knight.

Top it off with a fancy red trim around the glossy black casing and you will see that Samsung has combined the latest in LCD technology with an appealing design to bring you the very best in home entertainment and style.

Features

There are few features the Samsung LN52A850 doesn’t have. This TV is very similar to Samsung’s 750; the main difference is that Samsung’s LN52A850 is thinner–only 1.9-inches deep. In fact, Samsung boasts that the 850 is “the LCD that’s slimmer than its remote.” That’s a pretty thin TV.

One of the newest features on the Samsung LN52A850 is its ethernet port. This allows your TV to access information from the internet pertaining to weather, stocks, news and a few others. When the TV is all hooked up, just a click of a button can get you the latest-up-to-the minute news and weather from the internet.

The 850 also has those features that have become standard in this top-tier of TVs. The 120Hz and the 1080p resolution has you feeling like the Dark Knight himself could be there in the room with you, something videophiles and Christian Bale fans are sure to love.

“When you’re looking at TVs, you’re going to hear about the 1080p and the 120Hz,” said Kyle Morris, who has been selling TVs for nearly two years. “These are the features that set them apart. The 1080p is important because it will work with Blu-ray.”

The 1920x1080 on the Samsung LN52A850 gives the color richer detail. This resolution also makes Blu-ray and other HD technology look and work like it’s supposed to. The 1080p gives more detail to the picture on the 850, making it look cleaner and crisper than other models. The 1080p allows for darker blacks and makes the color stand out in shining clarity. It takes home entertainment to a whole new level.

With the 120Hz refresh rate, action-packed shows will be smooth and flowing on the Samsung 850 without all the typical motion blur associated with LCD TVs. Add on a gloss-black chassis with a red trim and the whole package ends up looking really nice, unless, of course, you don’t like red. Then there may be problem. However, the Samsung LN52A860 (notice that it’s an 860 not 850) comes with a blue trim, so that may be something you could check out.

Summary of Reviews from Across the Internet

Experts say they are impressed with the overall quality of the picture and how it moves on the screen. Some had a hard time with the red color, but with the newer 860 versions in blue with more colors bound to follow, that will not be a hold up for long.

Users found that they really like the thinner version of Samsung’s top models. The LN52A850 has all the features you want in a TV; the 1.9-inches adds a WOW! factor.

Summary

Samsung has made TV design and production an art. The Samsung LN52A850 is a masterpiece, combining unique design with the latest technology to bring you a performance worth watching.
