TopTenREVIEWS Review
The Sony KDL-40W3000 is a scaled-down version of Sony’s XBR series of TVs. It is built around the same chassis as the XBR and looks similar. The floating screen and glass accents are still there as with the XBR line. This look is unique and makes the TV unmistakably Sony. One of the biggest features of the set is the 120 Hz refresh rate. This allows the TV to smooth out motion blur and jitter. Also featured is 1920 x 1080 resolution. This allows you to display any of the popular formats available today, including the 1080p format. The Sony KDL-40W3000 has a dynamic contrast ratio of 18,000: 1, allowing the TV to produce some of the deepest blacks available on any TV. 2 HDMI inputs allow the user to connect all their digital gear easily. Experts are impressed with the TV's outstanding picture quality. The new 120 Hz refresh rate and video processor allow this TV to produce images not seen on LCD TVs before. Picture modes were also well-adjusted and calibrated out of the box, minimizing time needed to get the “perfect” picture. Users are also impressed by the picture out of the box. The TV even delivers better-than-average images on analog sources, something that is hard to do for a lot of the lower-end models. The Sony KDL-40W3000 is an excellent choice for those looking for a superb TV without the XBR price tag.

Sharp, bright, colourful pictures. Very impressive contrast for an LCD. Plenty to play with Same-priced plasmas offer better blacks. Not cheap After a slow start in the flat TV business, Sony has caught up in some style: the company is now firmly at the...

First, I would like to say that this TV is a beauty. It's easy to setup. It took me around 10 minutes to set it up which include opening of the box, moving away all the styro foam, hauling it to the TV stand and connecting it with HDMI cables.Second, I...

Well, a minor disappointment was rather bad sound from iTunes coming through AppleTV's streaming via built-in speakers...The good news is that the TV box has the ports for the receiver as well...I'd recommend this tv to anyone and I'm sure...
