Sony continues to maintain a high standard of TVs with the Sony KDL-46W3000. TopTenREVIEWS reviewed the same product with a smaller screen size: theSony KDL 40W3000. Based on product specs and other expert reviews, the two products are the same, minus the difference in screen size.

We have a brief summary of the features on this product here, but to see a full review of the features on this product, check out the Sony KDL40W3000.

Sony KDL 46W3000

The Sony KDL-46W3000 is a scaled-down version of Sony’s XBR series of TVs. It is built around the same chassis as the XBR and looks similar. The floating screen and glass accents are still there as with the XBR line. This look is unique and makes the TV unmistakably Sony.

Standout Features

  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • 1920 x 1080 resolution (aka 1080p)
  • 18,000:1 contrast ratio
  • 2 HDMI inputs

 Features

One of the biggest features of the set is the 120Hz refresh rate. This allows the TV to smooth out motion blur and jitter.

Also featured is 1920x1080 resolution. This allows you to display any of the popular formats available today, including the 1080p format.

The Sony KDL-46W3000 has a dynamic contrast ratio of 18,000: 1, allowing the TV to produce some of the deepest blacks available on any TV. 2 HDMI inputs allow the user to connect all their digital gear easily. The Sony KDL-46W3000 is an excellent choice for those looking for a superb TV without the XBR price tag.

Summary of Reviews from Across the Internet

Experts are impressed with the TV's outstanding picture quality. The new 120Hz refresh rate and video processor allow this TV to produce images not seen on LCD TVs before. Picture modes were also well-adjusted and calibrated out of the box, minimizing time needed to get the “perfect” picture.

Users are also impressed by the picture out of the box. The TV even delivers better-than-average images on analog sources, something that is hard to do for a lot of the lower-end models.

The KDL-46XBR3 BRAVIA is Sony's top 46-inch LCD HDTV model, and its exquisite 1,080p performance may make it worth its high price tag. Keep in mind that the KDL-46XBR3 uses the same LCD panel and image processor as the KDL-46XBR2, which carries an MSRP of
