Philips Releases New 2009 TV Line in US

Thankfully Philips appears to have abandoned the "ambilight" technology in their latest line of TVs. Yes, we know Philips has always made regular TVs, but we got nervous there would be more orange walls and glowing chassis. But Philips is all serious technology in their latest 6000 and 7000 line, filling them with the specs that will make watching these at home a pretty good experience, even without the ambience.
Released in New York, the 6000, ranging in sizes from 32-47 inches, comes with the now-standard 1080p, 120hz and an uber-fast response time. The 42-52 inch 7000 series has those base features and raises it one more with Philip's Halo-Free technology. In a sense, all those numbers and fancy names equal a pretty superb viewing experience.
Despite leaving out the glowing, Philips hasn't entirely departed from the important aspects of their brand: less is more. Less energy, less space (thin) and, of course, less cash. As always, Philips has designed their TVs with the environment on the mind.
