The JVC DLA-HD1 is a sizeable projector weighing approximately 26 pounds.  It’s covered mainly by a dark chassis with a silver accent stripe bearing the JVC logo stretching from the front to the back.  The inputs are located in a small panel on the rear of the set and in addition to its power cable.

Bearing an impressive feature list, the most important being a 1920 x 1080 native resolution and standard 15,000:1 contrast ratio.  Full 1080p pictures appear smooth and free from pixels, as well as absent from any screen door or rainbow effects some DLP and LCD projectors have.  JVC uses their GP9351 video processor to upscale any non-HD signals to its native 1920 x 1080 resolution, making for a great picture no matter the input signal.

It’s not often when multiple reviewers are at a loss for words when critiquing a high-tech device such as the JVC DLA-HD1.  They all agree that this is a phenomenal product for the price range and only have qualms about its overall size and presence in the home theater room itself.  When pressed for other critiques, it was stated that this may not have the brightness levels to function well in well-lit areas, but in a controlled environment, it will shine.

JVC has definitely got a leg up on their competition with their DLA-HD1 model.  There are certainly better projectors, but for this price range, JVC has set the bar for competitors Sony and Canon in the LCoS market.
