Samsung has been a pioneer in the rear-projection DLP scene, and their HL T5687s has taken full advantage of their name.  A narrow, piano-black frame surrounds the large 56-inch screen, with only the Samsung logo and power button on display.  The set’s speakers are located just below the screen and all other volume, channel, and menu buttons are located on the right side of the chassis.  Measuring just over 13-inches thick, the problem of rear-projections taking up too much space is slowly losing ground.

Similar to their HL T5689s, the HL T5687s is packed with features and designed with media enthusiasts in mind.  1080p resolution images shine on the screen with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and a single PhlatLight PT120 chipset.  Colors are rich and vibrant, giving life-like realism to nearly anything HD.  The only features this set lacks from the HL T5698s set are picture-in-picture and an Energy Star compliance certificate.

Rave reviews have come in from experts impressed with the HL T5687s’ capabilities to reproduce accurate primary colors, rich blacks, and it’s near elimination of the rainbow effect that has plagued DLP sets in the past.  Users who bought this television agree with the experts, extending nothing but praise to Samsung for their HL T5687s.

Samsung’s leadership in DLP rear-projection technology has driven them to where they are today.  Value-seekers shopping in the 50-inch and larger screen-size range should definitely consider their HL T5687s.
