I know all the hype about OLED technologies has started to fade because it failed to produce TVs that we could see outside of a tradeshow. I take that back; sure, Sony sells an
11 inch OLED TV. But c'mon, 11 inches? I'm supposed to get excited about that?
Well there are more OLED rumors to get excited about now, revolving around CES and screen sizes vastly overshadowing Sony's 11 inch wonder.
Samsung's Vice President of Flat Panel Development (quite the title) says that
Samsung could be showing off a 50 inch OLED TV at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in January, the biggest bash in the electronics industry. This would be another step in making OLED more marketable. Up until recently,
OLED panels haven't been able to get much larger than 40 inches.
Don't get too excited, though. This isn't a sure deal; it sounds like Samsung wants to tease us with the very possibility. But we'll be there at CES to find out if this little rumor does come to pass. So stay tuned.
