Sony Shows Off OLED Prototypes at CES
Sony brought some cool technology to this year's CES. Among that cool tech was their flexible OLED prototypes. They had one working 3 inch screen set up in a display that was actually bending it. The picture quality wasn't stellar. In fact it appeared to have entire rows of broken pixels but the technology displayed was impressive nonetheless.
Sony spent a lot of time on displays that predicted how the prototype technology could possibly be implemented in the real world, such as the folding netbook computer whose entire screen simply folds in half. The keyboard wouldn't be a tactile keyboard, but rather a touchscreen interface much like the Apple iPhone. They also displayed what their future reader could look like and possibly the MP3/video player of the future that you would wear on your wrist like a bracelet.
Another thing Sony is famous for is the first production of an OLED TV. They took some time to show us their prototypes for bigger OLED TVs (thank goodness, 11 inches isn't enough). Check out this video for the details of what's coming:
So what does the future hold for us as far as Sony is concerned? It's hard to say, but I know I can hardly wait for the day when I can roll up my 50 inch TV and take it with me.
